SAMPLE YOGA JOURNEY ITINERARY
The spiritual experiences and natural beauty you’ll encounter will be both revitalizing and transformative. Our carefully planned itineraries are designed to allow you to deeply engage with Bhutan's rich cultural heritage, from meditating in ancient temples to participating in local festivals. You’ll hike through breathtaking landscapes, visit sacred monasteries, and practice yoga in serene settings, all while embracing the peaceful rhythm of life in Bhutan. Each day is thoughtfully structured to offer a balanced experience, ensuring that you leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and connected to both the traditions and the natural world around you.
DAY 1:
Arrive in Paro, Bhutan: Explore the town of Paro, visit the Paro Dzong, and the National Museum. Meditate at the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang temple, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan. Join a yoga session in the late afternoon.
DAY 2
Bumthang: Take the short flight to Bumthang, one of the most beautiful and sacred valleys in Bhutan. Visit Jakar Dzong and then walk from Jambay Lhakang to Kurje Lhakang. Join the monks at Tamjing Lhakhang Monastery for evening prayers.
DAY 3
Bumthang: After morning yoga, attend one of Bumthang’s spectacular festivals. Enjoy a short yoga session before dinner at the iconic Swiss Guest House.
DAY 4
Bumthang: After morning yoga, drive to Toktok Sampa for a day hike to Nga Lhakgang. In the afternoon, visit the cheese factory and return to the hotel for a short meditation session before dinner.
DAY 5
Phobjikha: We farewell Bumthang after morning yoga. Drive to Trongsa, stopping at the Ta Dzong (watch tower) museum. Continue to Phobjikha where you visit the impressive Gangtey Monastery dating from the early 17th century, one of the two main centers of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism in Bhutan. Walk down through the village for the nature trail hike. Join the nuns for evening prayers at Gangtey Nunnery.
DAY 6
Punakha:. After morning yoga, leave Phobjikha and descend to much lower altitudes, stopping for a short hike through paddy fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the Fertility Temple. Continue to the magnificent Punakha Dzong.
DAY 7
Punakha: After morning yoga, go on a lovely walk along the Pho Chhu river ending at the Dzong. Join evening prayers with the nuns at Sangchen Dorji Nunnery before dinner.
DAY 8
Thimphu: After morning yoga, drive over the Dochula Pass (3,140m) to see the scenic view of the Eastern Himalayan mountains. Visit The National Textile Museum and the Great Buddha Dordenma Statue. Join the monks at Dechen Phodran Monastery as they offer prayers for peace, harmony, and the wellbeing of all humanity.
Day 9
Paro: After morning yoga, visit the Takin Reserve and the School of 13 Traditional Arts and Crafts. After lunch, continue to Paro where you check into your upgraded hotel with a range of facilities including a lovely yoga studio, heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, and steam room. Yoga will be in the yoga studio before dinner.
DAY 10
Paro: Walk to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery. An unforgettable hike to the Taktshang Gomba (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) where you meditate in a private room within the temple complex.
day 11
Depart Paro: Bid farewell to the group as you make your way to Paro Airport for your departure. Take a moment to reflect on the transformative journey through Bhutan’s serene landscapes, sacred sites, and soul-nourishing experiences as you depart this mystical kingdom.
